Hi everybody! Posting starts today, so if you need posting access make sure that you are a member of this community (there are a few that I noticed weren't members). If you're posting under a different account than the one you signed up on, please let us know. If you haven't chosen a posting date or are unsure of when you have to post, check out the posting calendar. And don't forget about our posting guidelines (aka one of my favorite posts to make all round)! If you let me know that you haven't heard from someone, I have contacted them and will keep you informed.

We finally made it! Great job everybody, and I can't wait to see all of the awesome material everyone made!

It's time to choose a posting date! You can choose any date between August 21st and September 15th. There will be no staggering of posts or a limit to how many can be posted in a single day, but I hope that if anyone has a flexible schedule that you'll keep in mind if there's three people signed up for a particular day and choose one that maybe doesn't have anyone signed up on it something else. There are literally more days than we have stories, and I hope this creates enough time for anyone that has any finishing up they need to do!

As always, I'll do my best to keep the calendar as current as possible but remember to check the comments!

As always, good luck and happy creating! :D :D

Edited to clarify:
All participating authors and artists will be granted posting access.

Hey guys! So it looks like the majority of people can post on the original timeline, but for the few that can't we're going to move the posting dates back one week starting on August 25th. The latest we will be posting is around September 15th. That gives us three full weeks for posting! Since I don't want to drop this on you unexpectedly, we'll do claims for the posting calendar on Monday. I didn't receive email alerts about any of the comments on the last post (which is strange since I tried to reset everything to go to the email so that I could better keep track of everything!) but I tried to read everything, and if this timeframe doesn't work for anyone let me know! There are currently only five stories without artists, and if at this point you are an author that has not heard from their artist or an artist that has not heard from their author, please let me know!

Hi! I hope everyone has had a marvelous weekend! We're now into August and that means that stories should be done. Unfortunately, things are still a bit difficult on my end so if you're not done, don't worry too much about it. We use the honor system around here and if you say you're done or that you'll be done with it soon, we trust you. :)

Note one: What I mean by "complete" is that your story should be completely written. If you still need to do some minor re-writes, some editing, or beta-ing -- that's absolutely fine! Also, I've been pretty spotty lately so if it isn't complete -- that's absolutely fine too! I know that you'll get there!

Note two: For archival purposes, we would love if authors sent us copies of their stories once they're "post"-ready but this is not mandatory. If you want to send us a copy of your story, email it as an attachment to scifibigbangmod at gmail dot com with "Final Draft from USERNAME" in the subject line. In the body, please include your username, the names of the artist and beta reader(s) you are working with, the story title, fandom, rating, and a story summary.

Something we still need to discuss is posting dates. If authors and artists feel like (even with all of my late announcements) they can have their work ready by the original start of posting on August 21st, then I'll draw up a calendar for those dates. If not, leave a timeframe in the comments that better works for you. That being said, I'll still be posting the Posting Guidelines later tonight, so that either way everyone knows what to expect!

Finally, there are still 6 (five and a half) awesome stories that have not been claimed, so head on over to the art claim post if you're interested :)

As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, or if I missed anything let me know!

23 July 2014 @ 10:32 pm
Hi guys! There are currently eight stories in need of artists, so let's get those claimed!

16 July 2014 @ 03:02 pm
Hi, guys! This is Andy :) Unfortunately I've had about thirty things crop up recently, the most inconvenient being my laptop charger no longer working. I've managed to bum a laptop cord for a few hours from a friend to write this post and respond to a few messages/emails regarding this challenge, but for the foreseeable future I will not have even semi-regular access to the Internet.

Here is what this means for the challenge: We still need artists so if you know anyone that can pitch in, that would make you both some of the loveliest people in the world :) I will be attempting to continue running this through the end of this round but it will more than likely not be on the schedule that will has been set (I'll have to re-work it - more information about that to come). I've tried to catch up on anything from in the week I haven't been able to log in, but if I've missed anything or you have any concerns that need to be addressed, please let me know on this post or through email.

The end of this round may not be ideal, but I hope to read all of the wonderful stories you've all been working on :) So good luck and I'll try to keep you updated on changes I make to the timeline as I make them!

Important Notes

Note One. Make sure you have signed up. We cannot count your claim if you have not filled out a sign up form. As soon as you sign up, you are eligible to select a story unless we say otherwise. Sign up forms are here.

Note Two. Please reply to this post with your top three picks. You will be given one of those picks on a first come, first serve basis. If you do not have three picks, you do not have to list three picks. If you signed up but nothing interests you, you do not have to select a story.

Note Three. This post is on LJ and DW. Even if you are the first person to sign up for something on LJ, someone could have beaten you on the DW site (or someone on DW beaten to a story by someone on LJ), so please check both posts.

Note four. This post will be updated on a nightly basis with the exception of tonight; meaning that claimed stories will be crossed out, and rough drafts and contact information sent to artists tomorrow night and every night following it.

Note five. Selection will end either on July 7th, after every signed up artist has made a selection, or after every story has been claimed. If every story is not claimed at this time, a second round of selection will begin the next day. At this time, artists will be able to choose any of as many of the unclaimed stories as they want until all stories are claimed. After this, if there is sufficient interest, claims may be opened so that stories may be claimed by a second artist.

How will art claiming work this year?

Artists: On Tuesday, July 1st, a post similar to this will go up. Please reply to the post with your top three picks. You will be given one of those choices on a first come, first serve basis. You do not have to list three stories if you're not interested in doing art for any of those stories.

Claiming will end either on July 7th or after every signed up artist has made a selection/every story has been claimed. Claiming will resume the next day. At this time, artists will be able to choose any of as many of the unclaimed stories as they want. If there is sufficient interest and all stories are claimed, claims may be opened so that stories may be claimed by a second artist.

The Pre-Game Claiming Post

Artists: this is not the art claiming post. Use this post to let us know whether or not you're still participating, or to just take a look at what stories will be available with art claiming begins on Tuesday. You can also check out the snippet tags (LJ or DW) to get a peek at some of the stories that are being written.

Please pay special attention to the numbering. When the official art claiming post goes up, if an author has dropped sometime between now and Monday, their summary will be deleted but the numbering on the surrounding summaries will remain the same.

The official post will go up on Tuesday, July 1st at or around 10 A.M. PDT. Convert to your local time zone here. If this time is inconvenient for you or you will be away during claiming, please let us know.

Authors: Please take a moment to make sure that all of your information is correct.

Due to the power outage I experienced, summaries are actually due tomorrow. So there's one more day to get them in if you haven't yet!

21 June 2014 @ 09:46 pm

Reminder: If you have not turned in your summary, now is the time to do so! Summaries are due tomorrow (23 June), so let’s hurry up and get those in! If you’re not sure about your summary, check out our FAQ or contact a mod with questions!

Summaries can be turned in on LJ // DW // Submit

Participating Writers:

If you do not see your username -- or your username is here but you have dropped out -- please contact a moderator through PM. If your username appears twice, it means that you have signed up to write two stories and we are expecting two summaries. Let us know if there are any errors with this list.

Sorry I wasn't able to get this posted yesterday! We lost power and I couldn't get online. But here it is now! Let me know if anything is unclear.

How to Submit Your Summary:

Just a reminder, this is mandatory and you need to fill out the following info and comment with it on this post by June 23rd or else you will be dropped. If there is some reason why you won't be able to make the deadline, let us know and we'll do our best to come up with a solution. This summary does not have to be the summary you use for posting. This just needs to be something to entice an artist into choosing your story! The information you post will be unscreened, so don't give away any surprises that you don't want the masses to know. Make sure that you give enough info so that our awesome artists know what kind of story to expect!

  • Title:
  • Author: (Especially if you use a different pen name than your username)
  • Fandom:
  • Big or Mini Bang:
  • Genre:
  • Rating:
  • Summary:
  • Any other author's notes/warnings:

How to Submit Your Rough Draft:

  • Rough drafts are due before midnight on June 30th.
  • Send all rough drafts to scifibigbangmod AT gmail DOT com.
  • Please include the words "Rough Draft from YOUR USERNAME" in the subject line.
  • Please send rough draft as an attachment instead of in the body of the email. Please send as .docx, .doc, or .rtf file type. If you have a different word processor that uses a different file type, please let us know and we will try to accommodate it.
  • In the body of the email, please include your LJ or DW username (the one you signed up with and the one you will be posting the story with if different), the title of your story (current working title or just "untitled"), and the fandom you are writing for.

A few notes on rough drafts:

Note One. There are one of two requirements your rough draft must meet: If you are writing for the Mini Bang, you must have at least 4,000 words of your story written along with a summary of the rest of your story. If you are writing for the Big Bang, you must have at least 10,000 words of your story written along with a summary of the rest of your story. Or it must be a complete outline of your story.

Note Two: No, really. That's it. You've still got until the end of July to finish your story and get it beta'd. We only want what you have done now.

Note Three. If you need an extension on turning in your rough draft for whatever reason, please drop a line with your moderators either through PM or by email.

Note Four. If you do not have an AO3 account but would like one, please include this in your email.

Due to some technical issues, there's going to be a little playing catch up on the mod's end, but author sign ups are now officially closed, and the writing period has begun! Sharpen your pencils, start your word processors and begin!

If this is your first year participating, drop us a line and we'll send you an invite to the Support comm on Livejournal or Dreamwidth! And, as always, if you have any questions let us know!
